Winter Chills

Sometimes you have these weeks that are full of crazy fun stuff and you realise that life is full of fun and games and it just couldn't be better.
And then for some reason or another you get a week which is really just dreadful.
Nothing seems to work out and although you try and keep yourself busy it seems as though you are stuck in some sort of emotional cold fridge and can't get out.
In these weeks you feel continuously cold and chilly, your feet never seem to warm up even though you are wearing forty-five pairs of woollen socks, and you hair all week seems to look lank and sad even though you wash it all the time.
I don't know whether to blame it on the incoming winter weather or just my own emotional whirlwind tornado that is destructing my limp being.

For probably good survival reasons, the winter months make us want to curl up infront of a warm fire with some dark chocolate to dip into our tea and pretty much either sleep the wintery days away or just lie there infront of the fire doing nothing until spring gets going.
Now don't get me wrong, I love winter, the mist, that when you drive through late at night is like sheets of weird and wonderful clouds that afterwards make the air apear so fresh and clear, and my birthday's in winter so that can't be a bad thing.
And I love all those things that you get to do in winter like walks in gumboots with so so many wooly layers on that you looks like a weird material tree just bumbling along; and the fact that you can roast marshmallows and drink so much tea that a lot of your day turns into running for the toilet.
It's just that sometimes the cold doesn't work in your favour and you're

left feeling a little mopey and confused.
And I think this is ok, it would just be nice for it to go away and leave me able to enjoy the chill and apple cakes to myself.

My Room

This is my room,
It's snug and warm and has a bunk bed with a little snug underneath where I sit and read Pride and Prejudice.

It has lots of socks and lanterns and a cat that leaves her long hair everywhere.

A Spoonful of Sugar Helps the Medicine Go Down

Movie Of the Week...

This weeks movie of the week is Mary Poppins.

Set in England in the Early 1910's, the film contains not only catchy uplifting songs about 'Feeding Birds' and 'Rights for Women,' but also lovely nonsensical words like supacalafragalisticexpialidosious, what's not to love?
The mother, Winifred Banks is a suffragette which is really very uplifting and although the father, Mr Banks is quite boring and dull, he does seem kind, in a strict sort of way.
Jane and Michael are perfectly charming, Michael's expressions of surprise do steal the show though, but not as much as the lead, Julie Andrews (one of my favourite  actresses of all time) as Mary Poppins. Not many heroines can pull off being severely duck-footed and a bit pompous and proud (see 'practically perfect in every way...), but you still love her. The fact that she has a thoroughly amazing carpet bag that not only contains a rather large mirror but also a lamp and a hatstand is really quite impressive, and she CAN fly, which in my book is always an added bonus when it comes to nannies.
One particular highlight of the film is when all the nannies get blown away and go flying down the street upside down and spread eagled with very amusing expressions of surprise on their faces.
bert is as always lovely, though very wacky; but there's nothing wrong with that.
I thoroughly suggest watching this film if one is feeling down or having a day on the couch with a cup of cocoa, or feeling very sick. It will make you feel a lot better.

10/10 victorian nannies

An Apology

so I think it's safe to say that I am the worst at this, because I hardly ever blog, which really does makes me a bit of a grade One A-Hole!
But this is a new leaf, I am truly going to try harder and blog more and try (hopefully not unsuccessfully) to blog much more often than I ever have done. xx

I have found out in just writing this short sentence that, since leaving the wonder-full world of school my spelling has slid down a slippery slope of unknowns and life's confusions, so steep that words such as wonderful and delicious are clinging on for dear life in the hope that I won't turn into a complete Guppy!

My dear friends Iona and Tara and I are all travelling the globe this year in search of some warm weather, sunny smiles, beautiful photographs and foreign boys (wink wink) in the hope that we might find a bit of ourselves that we didn't know was there.

Although we are not all travelling together, we will all travel together through our blog. This is our plan.

So before we set off, lets gear ourselves for some scrummy adventures, filled with lots of un-Australian sand and Pommy tea!

I say, Pip Pip!

P.s I leave you with a wonderful moment from pretty in pink....
